The smallholding where I live in South Africa is fast becoming an island of indigenous nature. Neighbouring farms have continued to erode the natural borders of their fields in the single minded pursuit of financial gain. This beautiful little bird among many others has recently moved onto our farm, due to the wanton disregard 'mono-crop' farming methods displays towards the finely balanced equilibrium of natural ecosystems.
