These photos were taken the day before the latest eruption of Kilauea Volcanic Eruption on The Big Island of Hawaii.
Rainbow Falls (Waiānuenue) is a waterfall located on The Big Island of Hawaii in the outskirts of Hilo.
In Hawaiian language, Waiānuenue means "rainbow water."
The falls are a part of the Hawai'i State Parks and there is no fee to see the falls. The fall is 80 feet tall and almost 100 feet diameter.
The falls flows over a natural lava cave which was to the mythological home to Hina, an ancient Hawaiian goddess.
The name Rainbow Falls was derived its name from the fact that rainbows can be seen in the mist thrown up by the waterfall on sunny mornings around 10 AM.
The gorge is blanketed dense, lush tropical rainforest. The pool is bordered by beautiful Wild Ginger and Monstera.
