Jeremiah 17:7-8 (KJV)
Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
I want to first make a reference to,
Psalms 1:1-3 (KJV)
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Jeremiah must have surely been aware of the Psalm of David. Even had he not been, the Holy Spirit of GOD most certainly is. It is fascinating to see that the Holy Spirit uses His own word to reinforce his Word. When I, as a believer, am reminded of another passage, it is surely something that the Holy Spirit is doing in me. God uses His Word to teach His Word. We compare Scripture with Scripture. We lay it side by side, line by line. We learn, as we do this sort of study, that the Word of God does not contradict itself but gives depth and fuller meaning to itself.
Romans 11:33 (KJV)
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
