Hello All,
Following the demise of the Stealth Water Methanol Injection system, I've been hankering after more power again from the little Fabia 1.6TDi.
When I first got the car back in March 2017, my initial thoughts was to add more power which was duly added with the aid of a tuning box courtesy of Bluespark Automotive. At that time, I also enquired with my insurance company about a quote for adding nitrous oxide injection. Their response was very disheartening, my premium would have gone from a decent £400 per year to over £1400; not really something I could justify.
Any hoo, with the loss of the SH2OMI, I've re-opened my interest in nitrous again but this time I've contacted a specialist insurer (Adrian Flux) and although I was unable to give them all the correct details over the phone (as the missus usually deals with that stuff) they quoted a fee of £955. I'm going to contact them again with all my details to hand to see if that will improve the offer.
In terms of nitrous, I'm looking at the Wizard Of Nos 'StreetBlaster 150D' kit as the best option for the diesel Fabia. Generally, this kit is widely available in the UK and for a price in the £500-£600 region. As diesels have a wide fuel/air ratio, a 'dry' kit (no extra 'wet' fuelling system required) such as the 150D kit is probably the most suitable. I'm just hoping that as with most diesels, there is a little extra fuelling from the engine's own ECU to compliment the nitrous and give me more oomph!
I'm confident the engine can handle an extra 50-75hp on top of the current +132hp as I've seen a guy on YouTube with a Skoda Yeti fitted with the same engine, turbo'd up to 206hp with no upgrading/strengthening of the internals.
This isn't a done deal yet, I'm in comms with a company in Chesterfield (Power House) who can sell me such a kit and also Bluespark Automotive to see if the tuning box (which alters the ECU signals) has sufficient extra fuelling going on. Plus, the biggest issue;..... convincing the wife to go along with this more expensive quest for power.
So folks, there could be more shenanigans with the Eggmobile in the not to distant future :)
Bye 4 now,
