Busking in New Orleans (2015)

Upon rolling into NOLA during my first year of van life, I found that I did the opposite of what I had anticipated doing, and was paralyzed with fear. I was traveling alone, had performed rarely in the past, and could not find the motivation to push through my fright to perform on the street by myself. By happenstance, I met the Free Range Reveleers when their rig broke down, who travel with a stage that they set up in the neutral ground on Decatur and Esplanade. Once I was invited to get up on it, I finally played my music, and people gave me money, and it was basically the most glorious thing ever. This is an image of me that day, freaking out with glee, on top of the world with my winnings in my mouth.
