The increase in technological advancement has been very stern in one of its agendas and that's eliminating a lot of jobs. I woke up asking myself if we would have people who do real work in 2080.
What would it look like? will I wake up, say good morning to my family, assign tasks to my AI based assistant, book a self driving car and eat meals made by robots ?π€π With the pace of innovation am beginning to think I would not even have to speak as machines will be able to read minds and just implement our thoughts, π€£. This way the work of assigning work is done away with.
In the midst of my imaginations I realized I was heading towards confusion. I was seeing it all wrong. While they might be less jobs, it doesn't mean that there will be less work. In fact man would actually have to do more to sustain such technological advancement. Trying to avoid human errors when interacting with a machine is work in itself.
Take a peek in history, men didn't work the number of hours they do now when we where just hunters and farmers. As knowledge increased and some jobs such as the clan town cryer is eliminated it's created many more jobs to fill such positions like news casters, bloggers, editors, writers etc. A good armoury consisted of some dope shields ,helmets, swords, spears, bows and arrows, and that was most times enough. All you needed to make those where men skilled with manipulating metals but building one weapon such as an AK 47 these days needs a lot of hands, I won't even talk about nuclear weapons. I hope you follow.
So in real sense the more advanced we get, the more work will be created and in turn the more jobs. So while technology puts out some kind of job, it creates about five more in that single category with the downside rendering those with the latter skill jobless. So when next you think of the future, have it in mind that there would be a lot of work to be done, more skills required. They might actually be less work for the rich since they will get to afford all the tech you will work your ass building and maintaining, lol πππ€£.
So how do you prepare yourself?, while working that desk job, begin to familiarise yourself with ideas, ideals and skills that look futuristic so just incase some tiny machine is made to replace you as a consultant(crazy, why would I want to consult with a machine?π€π), you have the skill to be actively involved in building such and maintaining it which would mean you still are a consultant only this time anonymously(can't really say if that made any senseπ)
Ensure to have an amazing weekend away from the stress of weekdays.
