Sorry for the delayed post but I was busy trying to prove to the world that what a person wears, especially traditionals, is a weak concluding factor of what that person can do. Here is what I think of an Indian woman's attire, the Saree.
For those of you who don’t know, I absolutely love the Saree. The technique itself to take the mere cloth and mold it to sit right with your figure, size 0 or 14, no judgement calls and it is so elegant and dainty. There is something liberating and empowering about these five to nine yards of cloth draped around a woman. Horses were rode, wars were fought in the saree. Women worked in the kitchen and the fields in this attire and in an era where there were probably no safety pins! So no, the saree is not limiting, the limits are set in our minds. In fact, the saree is a reminder of how a woman’s guise is never a judgement factor of the power and strength she carries with herself every day, with grace.
