So, I was scrolling through Twitter last night minding my own business when I ran across a tweet from Jack Dorsey.
Just incase you've been living under a rock and don't know who he is, Jack is a co-founder and CEO of Twitter. He's also known for being somewhat left leaning and authoritarian, in a sense, because his platform has been notorious for censoring "right" leaning points of view, most notably when he suspended Rand Paul for 7 days and completely booted Donald Trump.
Needless to say, Liberty Twitter was SHOOK when they saw this.
What is that, you might ask... Well, that is a link to a PDF file, and in that PDF file is a book that is near and dear to the hearts of most liberty minded individuals. Murray Rothbard's "Anatomy of The State".
(Click the cover here to download the book in PDF form if you would like to read it.)
It's not a long book, I wouldn't even say it's comprehensive, I would call it more of a primer, but even in it's short condensed form, it's a scathing critique of "the state" (or the idea of what's colloquially known as government).
Murray Rothbard was, I would say, one of the OG Anarcho-Capitalists. He understood, and could explain well, that the state was a net negative morally, ethically, and economically.
What's even more interesting though Is where he got the book from!
Many knew right off the bat, but some may not be familiar with this greatly undervalued resource. The PDF file in the link comes from the Mises Institute library. As in Ludwig von Mises, one of the best economists of his time, in my opinion.
Their entire library is free, and many of the books also have an audio option, so if you're looking for a source of reading material on economics, there's no better place! Plus, you can become a member for $5 a month I think and help support their work, which I highly recommend.
So, that leaves me, and many others I'm sure, wondering... How did THAT happen? Somebody slide him a link and he read it out of curiosity? Has he been browsing their library? Is this real life? What in the world is going on here?! 😆
He said nothing about it, but the fact he tweeted the link at least exposed many people to a great book that they most likely would have never encountered otherwise, so I'm gonna count that as a win. Hopefully Jack took something away from it and falls a little further down that rabbit hole. If he does, we may see a huge difference in the way twitter is ran. Only time will tell, but I thought this was a very interesting development.
