Martin’s Super Markets to be Acquired by SpartanNash

Food distributor SpartanNash Co has plans to buy over Martin’s Super Markets Inc, its wholesale customer, in efforts to expand its retail grocery business. With 21 stores in operation across northern Indiana and southwestern Michigan, Martin’s has achieved more than US$450 million in sales as of July 2018.

According to Martin’s President, Rob Bartels, SpartanNash has found a befitting partner in the supermarket giant. Both firms have offered exceptional customer service and product quality, alongside similar values and passion for business. This partnership would steel SpartanNash’s efforts in polishing its retail grocery stores, adding a supermarket alternative to its existing neighbourhood markets.

Alongside its partnership, SpartanNash has also begun offering fresh organic foods, quicker checkout lanes and specialty foods like Fresh Divide, Betty Kaye’s Smokehouse, Donut Dohjo and online grocery delivery via Instacart at select locations.

Harvest Earnings, a third-party advisory firm, will continue to work with SpartanNash to transform the company’s culture to ensure that all employees are in line with operational efficiency and profit-making strategies.
