Australian scientists have discovered a quasar powered by the fastest-growing black hole ever found.

A quasar is a very energetic core of a galaxy which is powered by a huge black hole that pulls matter towards itself at a very high rate.

This accelerating matter is torn apart and emits a vast amount of light, which takes 12 billion years to reach us.

Its mass is about 17 billion times that of our sun, its brightness is equivalent to more than 500 trillion suns, and it consumes the equivalent of a sun a day.
