Dissolution singleplayer now on Steam

Garage Studios has released the singleplayer campaign for their blockchain-powered tactical first person shooter Dissolution. The game is now available for free on Steam. According to their announcement on Twitter the game has 'flashy cinematics, exciting gameplay, and a surprise at the end that everybody has been waiting for'.

Garage Studios states the game is still in an early pre-alpha development phase. On its website the studio emphasizes that building the game will take at least five years. In the first stage of development, Dissolution will mainly be a tactical first person shooter, but in the second and third phase aerial combat and a persistent open world map will be added.

In Dissolution humanity is battling for survival against an artificial intelligence gone rogue. Players need to battle for the last remaining resources and territory. Ultimately this game will offer both singleplayer and competitive multiplayer content.

Dissolution was already playable

In October last year Garage Studios launched early version of their PVP content. Technically Dissolution looks like it has lots of potential. For example the first person shooter is build on the Unreal engine. As a result it already has a graphical edge over many other blockchain games.

In addition the blockchain-powered weapons and gear use blockchain gaming service Enjin. On the Enjin marketplace or OpenSea gamers can buy weapons, items and protective armor. Earned weapons and gear can also be sold on this marketplace.

Because not every gamer is familiar with blockchain technology, Garage Studios has decided to make their game both centralized and decentralized. Players who don’t connect their Ethereum wallets to the game, will have their information stored on the studio’s centralized servers. Those who are comfortable with blockchain technology, can have their own in-game assets stored in their personal wallets. As a result Dissolution supports both regular gamers and blockchain gamers, but it also allows regular gamers to move their items onto the blockchain.
