Apologies for the poor quality photos today, however these two snaps were all I was able to manage before this little bird and his mate flew off into the wind.

Obviously, the photos won't be winning any awards or prizes but they are good enough to allow me to record this sighting as a bird-watching success... and since I'm the judge of my own tally anyway, then I certainly deem this photo to be worthy of getting a tick in The Bird Book.

Anyhoo, (for those that can see the bird in the photo lol) this is an Australian Eastern Rosella and there have been two of these guys teasing me from the other side of my window, ALL DAY...

Meanwhile, I've been on the computer doing some work (ahem... yes... work... that's what we'll call it... lol) and whenever I heard them I'd look up to see if I could find them.

When I finally took a break and picked up my camera, yep... you guessed it, my battery was flat. (Murphy must've used it last)

Thankfully, just as I was finishing off my work, I heard them outside calling again and I ran out just in time to get these last couple of photos while I still could.

Just a short post today, to record my sighting... BUT thanks for bearing with me and I promise I'll get a better zoom lens for bird-watching asap... :(

Family: Rosellas

Eastern Rosella (Platycercus eximius)

White cheeks, Red head, breast. Back yellow-green, outer feathers blue, white tips. Lower-breast yellow, belly lime-green; undertail converts red.¹

Females/Immature: White underwing-bars.¹

Voice: Bell-like on one note. High 'clink clink' in flight.¹

Habitat: Woodland, farmland, parks, gardens.¹
