The Bible and the origin of idolatry: Foolish by nature were all who were in ignorance of God. Wisdom 13:1

The Sacred Scriptures teach to us in the Book of Wisdom how the sin of idolatry originates in men. And the author of the Book of Wisdom, probably King Solomon, explained to us that idolaters are fundamentally fools who did not know and do not know how to recognize that perfect wisdom that comes from the Lord; because wisdom creates everything, orders the universe, and manages it in a harmonious way. According to the sapiential books, God is the wisdom itself.
This is how the Book expresses this truth:
"Foolish by nature were all who were in ignorance of God,
and who from the good things seen did not succeed in knowing the one who is,
and from studying the works did not discern the artisan" Wisdom 13:1.
The idolaters do not know the origin of all things, because they are carried away by imagination and fantasy, which are faculties of the soul and not of the spirit, explained the wise man in simple words.
When fantasy exacerbates and dominates the mind, it is when fools get carried away by what they observe through their senses, and this is what prevents men from reaching the truth with intelligence, so the wise man taught:
"Instead either fire, or wind, or the swift air,
or the circuit of the stars, or the mighty water,
or the luminaries of heaven, the governors of the world, they considered gods.
Now if out of joy in their beauty they thought them gods,
let them know how far more excellent is the Lord than these;
for the original source of beauty fashioned them" Wisdom 13:2-3.
And continuing with the teaching, the wise taught us that ignorance is not an excuse, because the fool does not seek the science of wisdom, the true knowledge of God, because he does not believe he needs it. In this sense, the ignorance of God is the product of a discernment, of a mentality focused on the apparent goods like money, lust, or power; and that is why the idolater is responsible of his ignorance, with these words explained the wise this spiritual truth:
"But again, not even these are pardonable.
For if they so far succeeded in knowledge
that they could speculate about the world,
how did they not more quickly find its Lord?" Wisdom 13:8-9.
