Barcelona signed speedy playmaker Phil Pressey (1.83 meters, 26 years old), who will make his European basketball debut this season.
The contract is for one season with an option for a second year.
Pressey has spent the first four seasons of his professional career in his native United States, where he played parts of three seasons in the NBA with Boston, Philadelphia and Phoenix and also suited up for Maina, Idaho and Santa Cruz in the D-League.
He averaged 18.0 points, 8.1 assists and 2.1 steals in 46 games for Santa Cruz last season; he ranked fourth in the league in assists and fifth in steals.
Pressey was a college teammate of recent Panathinaikos Superfoods Athens guard Marcus Denmon at the University of Missouri, where he set the school’s single-game (19), single-season (240, 7.1 apg.) and career (580, 5.9 apg.) assist records.
His father, Paul Pressey, played 11 seasons in the NBA and spent more than two decades as an assistant coach.
