Memories Of The Asian Games, 1951 to 2014

1966 Asian Games, 09 To 20 December.

1945 Players From 18 Countries Participated.

14 Games, 142 Competitions.

India stood fifth in the table with 21 medals (07 Gold, 03 Silver, 11 Bronze), which was India's second best performance.

Came gold medal in hockey.

The Indian hockey team won gold medal in hockey after eight years. After losing to Pakistan in last two finals this year, India defeated Pakistan this year for the first time in the gold medal in hockey. The Indian hockey team did not beat any match till the final. And no team can do anything against them. The team scored 9 goals in five games. In the Boxing, Air Singh won the Gold Medal by defeating Pakistan's Abdul.

The athlete again

Athletes continued to bring Gold Medal this year too. And this year also five gold medals came in their names. In 400 meters Ajmer Singh, bagageshwar 800 meters, Bhim Singh in high jump, Joginder Singh shotput and Praveen won gold medal in discus throw. Athletes also won a silver medal and 5 bronze medals with five gold medals.

Return of Taiwan and Israel

Taiwan and Israel back in the Games. Women's volleyball was included in these games.
