🌸Nippon Industrial and Cultural Exchange🌸 | Preparations

🌸COSPLAY EVENT STUFF🌸

Hey guys! It's me again! Haha. So lately me and my local cosplay/anime/hobby/manga organization called Ani-ma Kyoukai has been preparing our booth for this upcoming cosplay event to be held here in Davao City, Philippines. The event is called Nippon Industrial and Cultural Exchange. There will be lots of activities and booths during the event which mainly revolve around the Japanese culture theme. But the main excitement is mostly centered around cosplaying and the Cosplay Ball where everyone will be dancing through the night dressed as their most beloved characters. But enough about that since I will be making a separate post regarding that one. Right now this post is focused mainly on our preparation. 👍

So for our booth we decided to make our booth a mini japanese temple. We are in the process of making a sakura tree, a torii, a mini shrine and some games that we prepared for the people checking our booth.

PREPARATION TIME

We had to cross this river going to our friend's house. Well we could've actually avoided crossing it but it was more fun this way and the ferry fare was really cheap so we decided to go the river route. Hahaha

The street in front of our friend's house was flooded when we got there because it rained hard the night before. But it didn't stop us from proceeding with our plans.

So first order of business was conceptualizing what had to be done for our booth and everything that we were gonna put in it. So here we have me on the far right learning how to fold paper into cherry blossoms also known as origami, my friend on the far left making rubber band guns out of rubber bands and chop sticks and my other friend at the background trying to decide how to make a torii and a mini shrine out of cardboard.

Here we have the results of me trying out making origami cherry blossoms. The process was kind of complicated and a lot of wrong folds have been made while learning but in the end I think they honestly look really pretty.

This is how they're gonna look once we set them up on branches. These were ones that we used at another event 2 years ago so we had to replace some of them and we wanted to add more. Hahaha

This is what will serve as the cherry tree's trunk. We're still putting stuff on it though once it dries.

These were the rubber band guns my friend made and it's made purely from just chopsticks and rubber bands. They're really fun to play with and you can shoot the rubber bands up to around 2 meters away. Hahaha

The torii was a bit more complicated to make since we had to make it a certain size to fit our booth just right and we had to make sure it would remain standing throughout the whole event. We even had to redo everything after making a first one. But we are confident now with this current torii that we're making.

In the end we decided that it would be better to use PVC pipes as the pillars to hold up our torii.

The torii is supposed to look something like this. Hahaha

This is what was supposed to be our mini shrine but it looked so bad that we had to make another one.

In the end we settled with this mini shrine with a curved roof and all and looked a whole lot better than the first one. Hahaha

That's our progress so far and we're gonna set it up at the venue tomorrow so watch out for that one. I am so excited. This is the biggest event we've had in a while and I'm stoked to be part of the setup team so I can sneak in some behind the scenes stuff from the venue. Hahaha. Hopefully nothing goes wrong. Look forward to my posts after the event. I will be posting lots of cosplay related stuff and japanese culture and food! ❤️
