I made this decision recently to purchase a small business. I have worked in special effects in the motion picture industry for some time now. Which has taking up most of my time and with my love for the steem, I have found myself wanting to have more time to build on the steem platform!
It's been a exciting year working on a new Ghostbusters production! Going to miss the days where Bill Murray sang to me at lunch! Nevertheless, shortly before my travels to steemfest 4! I bought a small metal distribution business. Been work on a average of four or five hours a night sleep! And it's good cuz my hard work is starting to pay off!
I can see if I put my mind to it, in the future I can have more time for Steem and my artwork again!
Well I was at steemFest 4 I worked on about 3 hours of sleep a night. Trying to take it all in and party all night was so much fun. Met so many wonderful folks that share the passion for Steem as I do!
I spent time in Bangkok, trying to understand how things worked there and how I could make my business better at home. I would endlessly walk the streets of Bangkok! Here is some of what I discovered in relationship to what I'm doing now!
I have a love with metals, always have! So of course I had to find out where you could purchase some in Bangkok. Wish I had time to make a piece of art while I was there.
Here's a few photos of what I discovered!
I find a simple beauty and raw metal! What could it be? In Thailand they call it yellow gold! Here in Canada we call it brass. Yellow gold is it everywhere in Bangkok and Thailand! Here's where you buy some of those raw materials.
And a look at my favorite! Sheet metal, oh sweet sheet metal!
In the mornings before breakfast in Bangkok I would visit a welder I found near by! He worked on the floor for the most part. I gave him a hand and what little I could (bat).
I also found some nicer metal shops along the way!
This one was one of my favorite workshops!
There was always a shrine at the back of these shops!
There's a certain amount of pride I found in Bangkok and in Thailand in general! A pride and craftsmanship! It's hard to see in the raw materials. But when you see what the Thai people build out of this. Was truly remarkable!
Such a great learning experience!
I did make a couple welds in Thailand while I helped out a bridge construction crew!
This was the bridge I needed to get to the post office that morning. They were hesitant to let me cross! After I helped out a little, I was on my way!
And of course I found the cutting torch!
Found myself at the post office sending letters of what I've learned home!
There is many lessons to be learned to SteemFest 4. Thanks for getting this far as I turned to my shop at home. I plan on using what I learned in Bangkok in my own shop! Here's a few photos of where I am these days!
My racks are stacked!
Brought in much more aluminum!
Brought in some light wall mount steel tubing and pipe for my customers needs!
With some luck and some steem luck! I will be back building some art of my own again! I have made some discoveries with steel! I hope before my days are done I can explore again!
I leave you with a photo of my "Heart of the Beast" sculpture!
Thanks for stopping in steem! I'm off to the workshop now!
