Sometimes it’s okay to think out of the box, doing things differently from what people expect.

Here we have a yellow and blue scene. 

But notice the unusual way of adding blue to white bare spots, areas that were haphazardly missed on purpose, that is, while previously painting in the main scene. 

The blue was actually used as a contrast to the warm colours of yellow and brown. 

And notice the word `haphazard’ 

The trick in painting really emotional exciting watercolours is to work quickly when starting the painting. Slash your brush and have fun creating a really beautiful ‘mess’! 

Working like that, gives your painting a `brushly’ look effect. (Brushly, meaning:  natural spontaneous brushstrokes and dashes). Something that speaks of a true artist! J 

The finishing touches:

To finish the painting off, stop and assess and size-up your painting. Then add a dash here and there to complete the effect with some panache flair: 

Perhaps a fence post and one or two twigs, here and there, to make it come to life as a real scene. And in this case I had also added those few touches of blue spots! 

The point is:

• Never take yourself seriously when painting. 
• Let your imagination fly.
• Have fun while creating. 

And let other people use their imagination too. It’s like gossiping… maybe it’s this or that, whatever! Let them make up their own ideas about what’s it’s supposed to be all about.
