An Opinion On Why You Have To Be High To Reach This New Low!
Of course there's no country with "Lazy" in its title. However, thats just where we'll be if Andrew Yang & his followers get their way! Take stock of yourself in this moment please. Who are you & what drives you on a daily basis? Is it providing for your family, a strong sense of accomplishment, making other people's day, keeping your competitive juices flowing or even just survival? Further, were you raised in The United States of America or did you immigrate here? (Click the previous link to read data on the considerations regarding assimilating into your new & chosen environment rather than forcing your ways upon the natives). Now, let's tackle the first series of questions because, no matter which the answer is, experience tells us that your why isn't as important to your happiness as having one. You'd feel like a complete knucklehead if you lost your why & had the government spoon feed you $1,000 a month for doing nothing other than waking up; which, if Yang gets his way, might even still be awarded to your family should you pass away in your recliner, Elvis Style.
So, some of you are asking, "What's wrong with the idea of a Universal Basic Income". "Are only the rich supposed to live great lives"? The answer is, YES! That is, if you think Good Living is based on income & not on your why, happiness or what you do with the money you receive.
Let's get real, not everyone deserves even half of what they get & vice versa, not everyone who is a have not, should be in that position. There are variables & extenuating circumstances to why we get what we get. Bet your bottom dollar, you don't get more ambitious with free shit! Also, who pays for it? It can't be the government because the government is only an intermediary who handles our money. That means your neighbors are now paying your tab! Picture yourself at a restaurant with friends, having a drink or two after dinner & it's time for the check to make its way around the table. Michael announces, "Hey guys, anyone seen my wallet... just had it on the table an hour ago". Well, on top of being full of shit & no one really believing him, he just made a move that no one respects. It isn't merely that he forgot his wallet, it's that he expects you guys to pick up the tab (after he ate like a bear fresh out of hibernation). I mean, this fucktard really takes the cake. That's what U.B.I will do to you. It will steal your self respect & divide you even further. I know this for a fact because none of the U.B.I Takers will ever sit at a table with me, without me checking if they have their wallets with them first! Do you blame me? If you do, that's because you don't know that I've been from prominence to houseless & back again. Do you wanna know what I never did though... I never wanted the state to take care of me or cover up my miscalculations. I wasn't helpless & not everyone who is down & out has a credible medical condition that hampers their ability to sustain themselves. In a society full of Play Stations & $200 NIKE Shoes, don't steal from others, that which you mismanaged in the first place. Your greatest asset in the market place is drive & willingness to learn & perform what you've learned. There are already services to aid the helpless but, the Feckless... I vote NO on that! Thinking U.B.I might be a good idea doesn't make you a bad person but peddling that idea to the American Populous makes you more than a bad person, it makes you a Soul Snatcher!
