Bicycle commuting is a deadly dangerous pursuit in most cities. Only a tiny fraction of the population are up to the task. If everyone did it, debilitating injuries and deaths would go through the roof. I can only imagine how a watermelon (green on the outside, red on the inside) snowflake would handle a skinned knee, let alone a shattered femur, broken collar bone, and three broken ribs.

I have been bike commuting for 20 years and some of the things I've seen the "green" bicyclists do would curl your toenails. I'm definitely not with them.

I am a particularly durable sort. I bicycle as part of physical training and have a job that doesn't require a shower between commute and work. Requiring businesses to provide showers is completely asinine. People should really think before assuming that everyone can do what they can. Forcing everyone to bike would leave much of the population stranded.
