Gathering More Pinion Nuts

Today we went back near our last campsite at the foothills of Mount Blanca to collect some more pinion nuts. The hiking is better here and there is more wildlife to see.

On our way up the hill one of our dogs saw some mule deer and gave chase. The deer had been very active in the area eating the pinion nuts.

One of our best spots had what seemed like a herd of deer move through based on how many prints we saw in the dirt.

We had canned fish and crackers for lunch and snacked on pinion nuts. Around 2pm we headed back to the truck.

We thought we heard Paul's ATV at one point but were too far from the road to see him. Hopefully we can catch up with him next time. He has a new puppy we haven't met yet and I'm sure our dogs would love to play.
