Remember my fig tree?
Well, for the first time in so many weeks (three to be exact), I visited my tiny gardens (in every corner of the small property)!
I gave up looking for fruit a while back. The last time I peeked, about several weeks ago, there was nothing! It was just full of foliage but no fruits! The last time it fruited was three years ago!
Wait, did I say fruits? Actually, they are flowers, an inverted flower!
Fresh figs have a honeyed sweetness, and the texture is soft and squishy... the seeds give it a pleasant crunch!
I would put them in Spinach Salad, and would bake a batch of two loaves of fresh Fig Bread in my first home, where I had two fig trees in the backyard!
When and if I am able to harvest at least two cups of figs, I will show you how to bake my version of Fig Bread. Hmmm... yummy!
I'm pretty excited! But at the same time, I'm a little worried. It is getting cold here, and I am afraid that the figs will not ripen as well as they would during the summer. What do you think?
