Saturday has always been stressful for me, but I had thought that I left all of that stress behind me when I travelled from the east down to the west a few days ago, but apparently not.
I had been woken up around 8am today because it turned I had an errand to run, one that involved me leaving home and not exactly knowing when exactly I will be back. I got up, had my bath and got dressed.
But of course, the moment I got out of my house, I got reminded where I was once more. I had stood under the sun for nothing less than 30 minutes, waiting for a bus, any bus at all that would take me to where I was going to. I eventually got a vehicle, but after it drove for a while, we met something else that Lagos state is well-known for, its traffic.

In a bid to manoeuvre around it, my driver must have got possessed by Vin Diesel, the actor from the fast and furious franchise because all of a sudden he started driving like a mad man and the bus almost somersaulted.
That was all I needed to see to know that it was either I saved myself or no one would do it for me, so I immediately got down from the vehicle and began to walk. I was still very far from my destination, but I knew sitting in that bus wasn't going to be a solution for me, so I just walked.
While I was walking, at the other side of the road, I could see a driver holding a stick, threatening to smash it on the head of a man dressed in military uniform, while a police officer stood right next to them, watching the entire thing unfold.
I felt I needed to this here because it was both a crazy and funny sight to me. It just goes to tell you how chaotic this place is.
Anyway, I finally walked far away from the traffic and got into another vehicle to continue my journey. And after spending about ten hours at that destination and getting everything done that I was sent there to do, I got on a vehicle to come back home, only to meet traffic at that same exact place, and had to walk, this time a longer distance just to get another bus that eventually took me home.
And now, all I just want to do is bath and sleep. I'm exhausted.
