Fortunate Son: Creedence Clearwater Revival

###### My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is the iconic Fortunate Son from the band Creedence Clearwater Revival. ###### After playing several hip-hop and pop songs from the 80s and 90s, I want to return to another genre that I am passionate about: rock ‘n’ roll. I've known the song I've selected for today for a long time from hearing it in movies or memes, but I didn't know its name or artist until a few months ago, when I ended up discovering the band thanks to a recommendation from Spotify. ###### Just before writing this post, I was watching a video by a YouTuber who uploads historical content, sometimes related to songs, and he reviewed Fortunate Son by Creedence Clearwater Revival. It was quite curious, because I had already preselected it for the post and now I have much more context to talk to you about it. ###### It turns out that the song is a complaint about the Vietnam War, where thousands of soldiers were forcibly recruited to fight in a war that made no sense. However, the main cause of criticism in the song is that the children of the powerful who were recruited were sent to places where there was no military conflict, while the less wealthy were sent to the front lines of the Vietnam War. The best-known case was the husband of the US president's daughter, who was sent to a ship in the Mediterranean, far away from any conflict. ###### The song is very good and has become a global classic about war, although technically it advocates against it somewhat. That's why I ended up choosing it as my pick for today.
