The tips and possible advises in this article are designed for Silver League, in which I am in right now.
Ulundin Overseer's high health makes him a very reliable tank for any lineup. Even at lower levels, he can absorb a lot of damage and can protect other monsters behind him. This makes him especially useful in battles where you need a strong tank to front as your other monsters do the damage.
Flank allows another melee monster to attack while on 2nd position even if they don't have any abilities that changes the targetting mechanics such as Sneak, Snipe, Charge or Reach. Flank can create and unlock unique combos such as Ulundin Overseer with Mana Warden where Mana Warden can give Ulundin Overseer a Shield ability through his Shield Ward while at the same time, not making Mana Warden useless until Ulundin Overseer dies. With Flank, not only Mana Warden was able to grant another monster with Shield but also attack while he waits for his turn to be the tank. This is just one combo along the many that you can use with Flank.
Noxious Fumes |
All monsters on the board are given the poisoned status at the start of the battle. Poisoned monsters take 2 damage at the start of every round.: Noxious Fumes deals 2 health damage every start of the round. That's plain and simple. Ulundin Overseer’s massive health pool lets him survive far longer than most enemies caught in the same situation. With healing, this can become problematic for your opponents as he can stronger but squishier opponents.
Fog of War |
Removes the Snipe, Sneak and Opportuniy abilities for this battle.: Fog of War negates Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity abilities, making frontline tanks even more important. This modifier prevents enemies from bypassing Ulundin Overseer’s massive body, forcing them to attack him directly. The longer enemies are stuck hitting him, the more time your damage dealers have to dismantle their team.
Keep Your Distance |
Monsters with Melee damage type cannot be used during this battle.: This modifier prevents the use of melee monsters. Since Ulundin Overseer has no attack anyway, he can be used in this modifier. Strong tanks are normally melee units so when melee are unavailable, you need to find a new source of defense and Ulundin Overseer fills that gap. |
Heal: [Support] At the start of this monster's turn, restore the its health by 1/3 of its max health. Tips: Heal works incredibly well on Ulundin Overseer simply because his massive health makes each heal per round stronger than others. Heal restores 1/3 of the monster's health so a monster with such a huge health pool allows him to heal more and stall opponents longer. Any form of heal like Tank Heal, Triage, or Heal dramatically increases the chance of Ulundin Overseer standing tall on the battle field. |

Inspire: [Stat Modifier] [Positive Status] As long as this monster is alive, all friendly monsters has their melee damage increased by 1. Tips: Since Ulundin Overseer uses Flank to enable melee attackers behind him, giving those allies more damage is always a major benefit. Inspire supports your flank monsters by increasing their damage. Even though Ulundin Overseer doesn’t have an attack, he enables teammates to attack harder to compensate for his weakness. If you ever use another monster with melee damage and Weapons Training and placed them beside Ulundin Overseer, that Inspire ability will affect Ulunding Overseer with the new melee damage. |

Weapons Training: [Stat Modfier] [Damage] Monsters beside this monster with no attack types will be Trained. Trained monsters gain an attack type based on this monster's attack type, damage based on this monster's original damage and will be able to attack each round. Trained monsters cannot lose their attacks even if monsters with Weapons Training dies. Tips: Weapons Training gives attack to a passive monster like Ulundin Overseer, turning him from a pure wall into a wall that can now hurt you. This ability gives him the attack similar to the monster with the Weapons Training. Once trained, Ulundin Overseer becomes more scary alongside with his humongous health and armor. |
With Global Warming modifier, you can do a lot of things. You can cleanse it or endure it. My strategy was the latter. I want to have a high health monster equipped with Heal to take both the opponent's attacks and the damage from the modifier. If everything worked well, I should be able to win this one.
I thought I was a goner in this battle but my strategy worked as well as intended. In this battle, I wanted to have Heal on Ulundin Overseer to use the high health. I added some strong monsters to accompany him like Harbinger of Chaos for the damage and Olivia of the Brook to take care of the lower health ones first. It got me on the edge but everything worked well and I won at the end even though I was left with a monster with no attack. That's all thanks to Golobal Warming modifier.
Ulundin Overseer may not look intimidating at first glance, but his presence can change the flow of an entire battle. Once you understand his strengths, it becomes clear how much value a high-health, high-armor tank can bring to your team. You can use this knowledge to make your opponents suffer or, like in this battle, make him your main carry without even lifting a finger.
If you enjoy a unique controlled playstyle, Ulundin Overseer with Avina of the Wolf or any heal monster might quickly become one of your favorite lineups to build around and I assure you that this combo is strong and not just for show.
