This happens

It happens that the rope on which I play at balance is about to vanish: it is held by the wind and by your fingers… your fingers, yes, among my addicted hair as I wander the Malecón. Yet, before falling, I relive through your photographs, I breathe in your gaze with hope, and I know that in those eyes I would lose myself without guilt, or let myself die in ecstasy, even while falling… because I also know, all too well, that even if I close mine you will be there, here, always. Beside the wall of these eyelids that sometimes dim their lights to soften the pain, deliriums whisper lectures. Now they hold the image of a girl running, barefoot, with a red balloon, across the cobblestones of the Plaza de la Catedral... And the drawings I etched upon your body without a touch remain, like your kisses and bites, made visible on my skin through sheer imagining. But the Plaza and the work, the rope and the child, the white, the black, the wink of colour… and so much… so much time scattered like the ashes of the dead do not lessen the night, and I, a mediocre photographer for a magazine equally mediocre, did not know then that I would walk upon a rope tied to nowhere. There are very few steps left now.

Sucede que la cuerda donde juego al equilibrio está a punto de desaparecer: la sostienen el viento y tus dedos... tus dedos, sí, entre mis cabellos adictos cuando camino por el Malecón. Pero, antes de caer, revivo con tus fotografías, esperanzada absorbo tu mirar y sé que en esos ojos me perdería sin culpa, o me dejaría morir en éxtasis, incluso cayendo... porque también sé, demasiado bien, que aunque cierre los míos vas a estar ahí, aquí, siempre. Junto a la pared de estos párpados que a veces apagan sus luces para atenuar el dolor dictan conferencias los delirios. Ahora retienen la imagen de una niña corriendo, descalza, con un globo rojo, sobre los adoquines de la Plaza de la Catedral... Y están los dibujos que te hice en el cuerpo sin tocarte como tus besos y mordiscos visibles en mi piel de tanto imaginarlos. Pero la Plaza y la obra la cuerda y la niña el blanco, el negro el guiño de color... y tanto... tanto tiempo esparcido como las cenizas de un muerto no hacen menos la noche y yo, una mediocre fotógrafa de una revista también mediocre, no sabía entonces que caminaría sobre una cuerda atada en ninguna parte.
