Essa história é fundamental para entender a capacidade que aplicar os ensinamento dos Hábitos Atômicos podem ter na sua vida. Resumidamente, depois da entrada de Brailsford o time de ciclismo britânico foi muito vistorioso, dominando os eventos de ciclismo e conquistando diversas medalhas nas Olimpíadas. Tuddo isso graças método de treino do Brailsford de “agregação de ganhos marginais”. O método funcionava da seguinte maneria, o treinador procurava por alguma forma de ter uma pequena melhoria, mesmo que muito pequena, capaz de melhorar a performance dos ciclistas. A ideia era dividir todas as ações que fazem parte da atividade do ciclismo e depois melhor um pouco (1% apenas) em cada uma delas, no final qual você melhora um pouco de tudo a diferença é muito grande. No caso do ciclismo, Brailsford procurou melhorar os bancos da bicicletas, melhorar os pneus, melhorar as vestimentas, tudo um pouco e o final foi o resultado apresentado.
