Hey dear community, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new contribution and hope you have a weekend full of interesting experiences! In this article I would like to discuss a interesting topic and hope you are able to expand your knowledge.
In traditional Chinese medicine or TCM for short, meridians are also certain energy points or pathways that flow through the whole body and they transmit Qi, which is also considered an essential source for well-being or life. Also in other cultures there are similar views that there would be a kind of energy system in the body and from history it appears that the meridians have often been changed and the entire system has been adapted and the first writings in which the meridians were reported appeared a few thousand years ago and have also made an important contribution to the understanding of the body in the TCM. The meridians are connected to all organs and of great importance for mental or physical well-being and in total there are 12 meridians, each of which has its own function and if this complex system is out of balance, this can lead to health problems. According to TCM, there are certain symptoms that can occur when one of the meridians is disturbed and based on these symptoms, someone know which one must be treated exactly and the technique of acupuncture is about to control certain points which sit on the meridians and by light external stimulation to bring them back into a positive harmony. Other practises have also been developed to balance the meridians and in the alternative medical field one often sees that technical devices are offered which stimulate the meridians with the help of electrical impulses and each of the meridians has its own frequency which is of great relevance in this context. In addition to the 12 most important, two additional meridians are sometimes distinguished and this topic is not only historically of great importance, but also one of the most important things in traditional Chinese medicine.
The 12 Meridians:
Each of these meridians is also associated with its own properties and elements and according to Chinese philosophy there are the five elements fire, wood, earth, metal and water. If you are also interested in the history of traditional Chinese medicine in general, I can recommend this contribution of me here.
