Stunning Beaches

The beaches in this specific part of Costa Rica (the Pacific coast) are totally different from the Caribbean coast.

The black volcanic sand and the strong waves make this a really unique place. You'll find lots of surfers visiting here, as well as people of course here for the diverse wildlife.

Despite the obvious beauty of this place - with the rainforest coming directly onto the beach - it's not a typical tourist destination.

Carate beach is not the place for a laidback beach holiday - the strong waves meant we didn't dare to enter the water - this is a truly wild national park.
