1800 deaths in lightning in eight years in Bangladesh

Bangladesh has reported more than 1,800 people have died in the incident of lightning from 2010 to 2017, according to the study.

Bangladesh Agricultural University's Department of Meteorological Sciences M. This study was done under the leadership of Faruq.
Professor Faruq told BBC that the information collected from the year 2010 to 2017 for eight years was collected.

Four daily newspapers of Bangladesh, the news of the death of lightning has been gathered together, showing that more than 1800 deaths in lightning killed in eight years.
It has been shown in the study that the maximum thunderstorm in Bangladesh is in Sunamganj and Srimangal of Moulvibazar.

He said, using Geographic Information System, Thakurgaon and Lalmonirhat were among the highest thunderstorms in Rangpur division.

The highest thunderstorm in Rajshahi division was in Chapainawabganj. Netrokona has the maximum thunderstorm in the Mymensingh division. The highest thunder in Dhaka Division is Kishoreganj.

Professor Faruque said, Sunamganj more than the Thunderbolts are being killed in more northern areas.

"Two things - one place is more than the thunderstorm, but it is less likely to die, but in other places, there is less lightning but people are dying," Farooq said.
Professor Farooq tried to bring some issues to his studies. Why is the thunderbolt? Where is the thunder? How many people are dying?

The study tried to find answers to these questions, Professor Farooq, and his assistants.

He studied thunderstorms in Alaska and Canada from 2009 to 2014.

From there, Professor Faruq became very attentive to the thunderbolt of Bangladesh.

He said, "In the middle of May 2016, 57 people died in lightning in different places of Bangladesh. Then I became interested in the study."While studying the lightning, he has been searching for a newspaper from the 1980s.

But at that time the issue of lightning did not give much importance to the news.

There is no technology to record the number of thunderstorms every year in Bangladesh.

There are 25 million thunderstorms per year in the United States. But 40 to 50 people died in lightning.
According to data from the radar of the Indian Meteorological Office and the Japanese Space Research Organization's data, there is an average of 2400 thunderstorms every year in Bangladesh.

He said that the trend of thunderstorm is increasing in Bangladesh and there is close contact with temperature rise.
